Good morning residents,

We have recently seen a number of thefts from motor vehicles, particularly Mercedes vehicles in the Woodlands, Wainbody and Westwood  area. These thefts are occurring between the hours of 2200 hours to 0330 hours whereby offenders are smashing car windows and taking objects from within even when not on show.

If you can, please park your vehicle in a garage or in a well-lit area if parking on the road with CCTV. Please ensure that your vehicle is locked, all valuables are removed from it and ensure the windscreen is regularly wiped to remove marks from sat nav fixings.

Visit Immobilise to register your sat nav on the UK’s largest free database. If it’s ever lost or stolen you’re more likely to get it back and we may be able to link crimes to criminals. Mark your sat nav with your postcode or vehicle registration number using a special security marking product or UV pen. Make a note of the name, make, model and serial number and record it on Immobilise.

Your local neighbourhood team are aware of this issue and will be stepping up patrols in the areas alongside officers from other force departments. If you do see any offences being committed, please call 999 in an emergency, or 101 in a non-emergency.
